When do new doors make sense?
The carcasses should be dry, rigid and level. The hinge spacing must allow new doors to be fitted, and the current layout should suit the people using it.
It is a good solution when the problem is mainly the colour, the handles, a worn worktop or isolated damage.
When is a completely new kitchen better?
If the board has swollen, the cabinets are unstable, the installations need changing or there is not enough storage, new doors will only hide the problem.
A full replacement lets you improve ergonomics, worktop height, appliance housings and the use of corners.
What can be replaced along with the doors?
Most often the worktop, handles, hinges, plinths, filler panels and lighting. Sometimes internal drawers can be added or a particular cabinet improved.
Every extra element has to be checked on site, because old carcasses may have non-standard dimensions.
How does the assessment work?
During the site survey we check the condition of the boards, angles, fixings and whether the dimensions match. Then we compare the cost of the refresh with what the client will actually get.
If a refresh makes no economic sense, we say so before any design work.
