Matt in everyday use
Matt doors give a calm effect and go well with wood, stone and metal. On very dark colours, fingerprints can still show.
Anti-fingerprint coatings help, but they do not mean a surface that never needs cleaning. It is worth touching a sample and looking at it against the light.
What gloss brings
Gloss reflects light and can visually brighten a small room. At the same time it shows smears, reflections and surface imperfections more clearly.
It looks best on simple doors with well-thought-out lighting. In a large open-plan kitchen it can become a strong, dominant element.
Colour and lighting
The same sample looks different in daylight and in warm evening light. In flats with north-facing windows, cool greys can feel harsher.

How to clean the doors
Use a soft cloth and products in line with the manufacturer's recommendations. Harsh chemicals and abrasive sponges can damage both matt and gloss.
With edge handles you touch less of the door surface than with a handleless system.

Is matt easier to clean?
It depends on the specific coating and colour. Good anti-fingerprint matt finishes usually make marks less visible.
Does gloss make a kitchen look bigger?
