Crooked Walls and Custom Furniture: Fillers, Plinths and Scribing

Furniture is geometric, buildings rarely are. An uneven corner, ceiling or wall does not rule out built-in furniture, but it needs room for adjustment and parts cut to fit during installation.

What an accurate survey reveals

We check width and height at several points, the walls for plumb, the floor level, the diagonals and any steps. A difference can be invisible to the eye yet significant for a tall door.

In old tenement buildings in Katowice, Gliwice and Cieszyn we also pay attention to stucco, deep window sills and irregular alcoves.

The filler panel against the wall

A filler panel closes the gap between the furniture and the wall and lets a door open without rubbing against the plaster or a protruding window sill.

Its width comes from the survey, the type of handle and the opening angle. If it is too narrow, adjustment may be impossible.

Plinths and ceiling trims

Adjustable legs let us level the base units, and the plinth hides differences at the floor. A top trim tidies up the gap at the ceiling.

These parts are not an afterthought; they are part of the technical fitting of the furniture to the building.

When building work is needed

Very large deviations, damp or unstable plaster may need repairing before installation. Furniture should not hide a structural problem.

After the survey we tell you which surfaces need levelling and which dimensions must not change any more.

Frequently asked questions

Does a crooked wall always have to be straightened?

No. Small irregularities can be compensated with a filler panel and scribing, as long as the surface is stable.

Can a wardrobe fit perfectly against the ceiling?

Usually a controlled gap or a trim is left, especially with an uneven ceiling.

Need a specific quote?

Every room has different dimensions and constraints. Describe your project in the form and we will get back to you with the next steps.
