A hinge with a good range of adjustment
A well-chosen hinge holds the door, lets you adjust it in three directions and can have integrated soft close. The number of hinges depends on the height, width, weight and material of the door.
Unusual angles and very thin or very thick doors need the right hinge model.
Drawers: load capacity and full extension
Full extension gives access to the back of the drawer. The load capacity depends on what goes inside: cutlery weighs less than pans, supplies or files.
The stiffness of the base, the guidance and the ability to adjust the front later all matter too.
Pull-out larders do not always win
A narrow pull-out uses a gap well and keeps bottles in order. In a larger cabinet, ordinary drawers often give better access, more flexibility and a simpler construction.
A corner system makes sense when you genuinely need that capacity. Sometimes a "dead" corner with wide drawers next to it is more convenient.
Where is it worth paying more?
First on things used every day: the main drawers, hinges and lift systems. Extra organisers can be added later.
We specify the class of hardware in the design, so two offers can be compared on more than the final figure.
Frequently asked questions
Do all drawers need the same load capacity?
No. Matching the capacity to the contents means the budget is used sensibly.
Is push-to-open convenient in a kitchen?
It can be on selected doors. For heavily used cabinets, compare it with a handle or a recessed handle rail.
